acupuncture

Acupuncture is a traditional Chinese medicine practice that involves inserting thin needles into specific points on the body to stimulate energy flow, or “qi.” It is based on the belief that balancing this energy flow can promote healing and well-being. Acupuncture is often used to treat various conditions, including chronic pain, headaches, stress, and digestive issues.

The practice has gained popularity worldwide and is sometimes integrated with Western medical treatments. Scientific studies have shown that acupuncture can help manage certain conditions by promoting the release of endorphins and improving circulation.

Dr. Seth received her Medical Acupuncture Degree from UCLA and has been a practitioner since 1995. She practices traditional acupuncture (dry), but will add electro or moxibustion if needed.

medical massage

Massage is a therapeutic practice that involves the manipulation of soft tissues in the body to promote relaxation, alleviate pain, and improve overall health. This ancient technique, used in various cultures for centuries, includes a range of modalities such as Swedish, deep tissue, sports, and aromatherapy massage. Each style employs different strokes and pressures, targeting muscles, tendons, and connective tissues to enhance circulation, reduce stress, and relieve muscle tension. Beyond its physical benefits, massage also contributes to mental well-being by encouraging the release of endorphins, fostering a sense of calm and improved mood. Whether for relaxation or rehabilitation, massage offers a holistic approach to maintaining balance and wellness in the body and mind.

Medical massage is a specialized form of therapy that focuses on addressing specific health issues and is often prescribed by healthcare professionals as part of a treatment plan. Medical massage targets problem areas to alleviate pain, improve mobility, and support healing. It integrates various techniques such as deep tissue massage, trigger point therapy, and myofascial release to treat conditions like chronic pain, injuries, and musculoskeletal disorders. Practitioners of medical massage often collaborate with other healthcare providers to tailor the therapy to the patient’s needs, making it a valuable component of comprehensive healthcare.

reflexology

Reflexology is a holistic therapy based on the principle that specific points on the feet, hands, and ears correspond to different organs and systems in the body. By applying pressure to these reflex points, reflexologists aim to promote relaxation, improve circulation, and support the body’s natural healing processes.

This practice, rooted in ancient Egyptian and Chinese medicine, operates on the belief that energy pathways or zones run throughout the body, and stimulating these areas can alleviate stress and improve overall well-being. Reflexology is often used as a complementary therapy alongside conventional medical treatments to enhance physical and emotional health.

reiki

Reiki is a Japanese healing technique that promotes relaxation, stress reduction, and overall well-being. It is based on the idea that a universal life force energy flows through all living things, and when this energy is low or blocked, it can lead to physical, emotional, or spiritual imbalances.

Practitioners use a hands-on or hands-off approach to channel this energy into the recipient, aiming to restore balance and facilitate the body’s natural healing processes. Reiki sessions are often described as calming and rejuvenating, making it a popular complementary therapy for enhancing overall health and harmony.

Hot/cold stones

Hot and cold stone therapy is a popular massage technique that uses heated and chilled stones to promote physical and emotional healing. Smooth, flat stones, typically made of basalt, are heated and placed on specific parts of the body to relax muscles, improve circulation, and reduce stress. Cold stones, often made of marble, are used to soothe inflammation, decrease muscle tension, and invigorate the body.

Some common areas for stone placement are the spine, palms of hand, or even feet. The temperatures od the stones help to balance the body’s energy, relieve pain, and promote deep relaxation. This therapy is commonly used in spa treatments and holistic healing practices to rejuvenate and restore the body’s natural equilibrium.

topical pain relief

Topical pain relief involves the application of creams, gels, or patches directly to the skin over a painful area. These products deliver active ingredients locally, reducing pain by minimizing inflammation, numbing the area, or interrupting pain signals. Common active ingredients include nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), capsaicin, menthol, and lidocaine.

Topical treatments are often used for musculoskeletal pain, arthritis, and minor injuries. They provide an alternative to oral painkillers, reducing systemic side effects and the risk of gastrointestinal issues.
